Turns out that they are obviously using a different version of the LCD with different pinout but didn't change the PCB layout accordingly. Now the "CV", "CC" and lock symbol are appearing in the wrong modes (first pic is in constant voltage (CV) mode (not locked) but showing "CC" and the lock symbol) . In constant current mode it shows "CVCC" without the lock (2. pic).
