These are not true absolute calipers. Like other inexpensive calipers, only the screen goes off when you turn them off, and they automatically turn on when moved in order to maintain position. The absolute button really should be an incremental button, since it allows you to take incremental measurements from your current position, and then you can return to the original coordinate system. The calipers look great and have reasonable quality, however the slide is a little bit loose, which makes it harder to get accurate measurements. I'm giving them 5 stars because for the price these calipers are decent and although the absolute functionality is incorrect it still provides a useful feature that is not typically present on calipers.
