It does the same thing as using two plates on top of each other and they are easier to wash. I thought this bag would decrease the cooking time but it takes 8 minutes for one medium potato, the same as using the plates. My worry is how safe for cooking this bag is, it takes more time to properly wash it than two plates that you can use them for eating after the cooking. I don't think I am going to use this bag again because I see no benefit.
