This is a nice board. It's on the small side, but the chess pieces are still easy to pick thanks to its form-factor and lack of lackquering. The board itself is a littly glossy, so pieces may slide more easily compared to a simple wooden one. But I don't think it causes any problems if you are not playing in the train. Characters are engraved in wood and highly stylized. They could be a little difficult to distinguish even to a person familiar with Chinese language, so better consider it as a decorative rather than tournament set.
