Heavy cleaver. Strong, thick full tang steel. I have a range of these Yi and Yu series knives and they are top, top quality, there is nothing to criticise. Even the packaging is good quality. This cleaver is for chopping bones so it isn't razor sharp to prevent edge damage. The other knives I bought for cutting were very sharp. with just a little stropping they become near razor sharp
