Item was as described, all metal, red, markings on the rods. The rods are solid and strong. I would say this tool is machined in a way that the rods can rock in the handle when fully tightened and move or come loose. The rulers on the rods have markings that are so light you can't read them. And so, it is of limited use in it's only purpose.
