There are 3 layers of steel . The core layer ( where the edge of the blade is ) is not Damascus . Only the outer layers are Damascus , so they dont help to the hardness of the edge , so to keep the edge sharp . They are only for decorative purpose . Looks nice thow , and came quickly .
As for the VG 10 steel , I'll be happy if it's chineese AUS 10 steel , wich is good steel too .
