These are 10-lug chrome-plated aluminum die cast rims, very similar to what Yamaha uses on their Recording Custom snare drums. It is in the nature of aluminum that the rims are lighter than their zinc die cast counterparts (as used by Tama and Ludwig). The rims are perfectly round and allow for very equal tensioning. The fit is very good and the chrome-plating seems to be pretty durable. The chrome-plating itself has some minor visual issues. I am using these rims on my 8x14 Pdp 20-ply maple/walnut.
