I was thinking by the description that these would not only be Wi-Fi connected but they'd also make an audible noise coming from the actual device itself when triggered and it doesn't it was a pointless purchase

These door/window opening sensors are pretty. Like all sensors with an internal antenna, its range is not great. My tests give a range of 6 meters indoors. When the distance is greater, it is necessary to use sensors with a telescopic antenna.
