It arrived after only 2 weeks! My quick test confirmed that two connected Baofeng radios acted like a repeater -- I just needed to turn the Baofeng radio volume all the way up. There is no need to use Baofeng VOX, because this repeater device senses audio energy and triggers the Baofeng PTT. My only wish is that it would end the transmission faster after the sound is gone -- so I can more effectively use it for digital packet communications.
I was hoping to modify the electronics to shorten the tail of the transmission (so it would be useful for digital packet communications) but after opening the enclosure, I discovered that it had been filled with epoxy to prevent snooping!
