The laser scanner has a plastic lever designed to prevent laser radiation when the door is open. Different printers have slightly different levers. Although I ordered the scanner for the M1536, the lever provided DID NOT match my printer (it was too wide as in the picture). Luckily, I kept the old (bad) scanner, so I could replace it. Then, everything work well.
