It is a control lamp. Normally you always look directly with your eyes on to a control lamp - to always have it in view. In this lamp, however, there is an ultra-bright LED in crystal clear housing. This LED is way too bright for a control lamp. The LED should be diffused - and much less bright. As a control lamp, both for car, boat or other application absolutely unsuitable, as far too bright. From my side definitely not recommended. Maybe the manufacturer or the seller once should think about the purpose of a control lamp!
