The battery slot is not connected to the USB out. In other words, the battery cannot be used to charge the smartphone. The USB out works only from the 220V/12V input. This charger is only a 220/12V to USB and a 220/12V to battery; 2 functions that cost less than 4USD bought separatedly. The product description should have clearly described the limitation and I would never have bought it.
