The locks are very sensitive and can get messed up if you are rough with it. You must be really careful when putting then on, otherwise you will break your earring. When putting them on, you are supposed to wait to hear a snap when closing to ensure it is locked. On my black pair, one of the earrings don't snap to indicate a secure closure, and that is bad because I am afraid of losing it.
