When the device is connected via the Zigbee, the green light is on when switched off. When turned on, the red light is on.

Nice switch. Easy to install. It doesn't work to well if the actual lights you wish to turn on with it are leds. Mine made a continuous flickering sound when turned on. So I installed it on a different location where I had a older lightbulb.
