Smooth focusing action in a low cost, all metal design. The extension has no play until you rack it out to the last 1/2”. Even then, it is minimal. Ideally mated with an 8.5” diameter telescope tube, the base seems to have about a 2.2 mm maximum gap with my 12” tube. That’s no problem for me. Able to support my Canon 40D, which weighs 1.8 lbs, this focuser exceeds my expectations. The hefty focusing lock could no doubt allow me to add an even heavier device as long as I securely attach the focuser to to tube. The only small negative is that the inner threading, which seems to fit M42 standards, does not reduce internal reflections enough for me. Some flat black paint should solve that. Considering the price, I would definitely buy this again if needed.
