When you're not sure what focal length to choose, choose a varifocal lens. Good: - 5-in-1 (replaces 6mm, 8mm, 12mm, 16mm and almost 25mm lenses) - f/1.6 aperture results in brighter picture than in most other lenses - real 4x zoom, comparable to 8x zoom in camcorders Neutral: - narrow-angle even at 6mm (debatable) - f/1.6 aperture is not great (f/1.0 is better for nighttime but you can't have f/1.0 in a telescopic lens like this one) Bad: - nothing In the attached photos I'm showing 3 lenses. Indoor photos - PS3 Eye camera original lens versus this varifocal lens. Outdoor shot - Aptina 0330 sensor dashcam lens (G1W etc.) versus this varifocal lens zoomed out and zoomed in. I ordered it without the IR filter and it came with the IR filter attached but it's not a huge problem.
