I would not say the reel is bad, but... The reel is made as old school reels) no one way bearing, no endless worm shaft, all ball bearings are open type. So reel is made of cheapest possible materials. I guess it would not survive long in sea water/sand. Total 4 BB (not 13 as in description) (main gear2, rotor gear 1 open type BBs, and line roller - closed type BB).
