The design is very simple and could be definitely much more sophisticated. It surely needs a better objective cover. The lanyard attachment is horrible. The optical quality is excellent for this price range. It does not "tire" the eye when looking through it. It has almost invisible CA. The image is crisp and clear. Color rendition is realistic. Distortion and astigmatism are corrected well. The closest focusing distance is only around 1m! And when you turn the wheel all the way to the left, it is focused from some 20m to the infinity without need of any further focusing almost like steiner autofocus. The focusing knob is stiff enough to prevent from accidental changes in focusing. It is also robust enough to take a hit, I accidentally let it fall down from some 70cm on the floor and nothing broke. You can not go wrong with this monocular if you are OK with its simple design. It can not compete with top brands that are much more expensive, but it is a solid piece of equipment
