The speaker works after manual installation. Then again I'm not sure if my old one didn't work because I put it in the wrong way around when changing my display. Either way, don't try to change it manually if you're not tech-savvy. If you still want to, there is a good youtube tutorial, search for "Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X Earpiece Repair Guide"
