Really nice kettle, plastic on the outside, stainless steel on the inside. There is no plastic contact with the water in any place, so there are no strange smells or tastes introduced to your tea. The kettle works by rotating it into the correct spot eliminating the need for on/off switch. So if you want to turn it off, you just rotate it out of place. If you want the water inside to be kept warm at all times, you leave it in place. It operates relatively quickly too.
