The item does work. Tested on voltmeter and it says 4.59v (3x D battery). However, when inserting into a toy (requiring 3x D battery)... I had to insert extra aluminium foil so there is actual contact. See images. Also, I recommend using dummy ones on each side. Took me 20mins to figure it the best placement and use of Aluminium foil to ensure a connection is ok.
