Very pretty lights! The remote uses a CR2025 battery that is not included, so you have to buy one if you are planning to use the remote. The light itself comes with a button on the USB plug that lets you select which of the 8 modes (flashing, alternate, fade etc) to use, but if you want the more advanced functions on the remote like the timer or dim/brighten, you will need to use the remote.
