Product sleeps every 3 mins. Frequent power on/off will wear down hard drives quickly. It never mentioned in its advertisement. Also asked salesman to confirm it, he said something ambiguous. Bought the product he confirms it is auto sleep, asked why he didn't confirm it he says it wasn't him in the dialog, then he blocked my messaging. Checked out our messaging center. I kindly describe the problem, he just very upset when I point out he didn't know it's auto sleep months ago, so he say it was not him replying my question, then he run out of patient and blocked my messages. I wasn't intend to full refund, but his attitude is sick.
The case shut down drive when you reading documents, or go to wash your hands, or take a snack, or do some research in the same computer that won't operate the drive, just few minutes, the drive will shut down, when you come back it will restart again, so the drives keep power on/off many times during your work. Every hard drive has a limit of start/stop cycle, motors, read/write heads, this scheme not only mechanically wear down the drive faster, but also occupationally disrupt your work repeatedly, what's the point of this design. Seller insistently keep saying it's popular demand in messaging, I don't see any popularity or the point of popularity. He just try to evade responsibility of not tell me there's sleep mode when inquired.
Perfectly fits cable niche of Ikea Hemnes table. Width is ~77mm. Doesn’t limit HDD bandwidth (about 135Mb/s for my HDD both with this case and direct connection to SATA). Assembly is s bit complex. Be careful to avoid scratching of HDD PCB! JMicron chip is inside, SMART is supported. Cables are short but it was expected for such price. LED is too bright.
