Arrived in a week, reliable company. Good quality amplifier. It certainly gives a big gain up. The mic gain of my mixer is 5 o'clock, which is best at 11 or 12 o'clock. The microphone is SM58. Like a condenser microphone, the sensitivity is so good that it sometimes picks up environmental sounds that I haven't picked up before. Anyway, It's a very powerful weapon.
I used it with a Focusrite Scarlet Solo, cheap dynamic mic and 6 inch XLR cable to route from mic into the preamp. Overall pretty satisfied. There is a very tiny bit of noise present but that is only when I turn up the gain on my audio interface by a lot. I think the frequency response tends to amplify more towards high-mid range, but it's hard to confirm since I only have no other dynamic mics to compare against. The unit is bulkier than I expected. Much larger than the other in-line dynamic amplifiers on the market, but I can look past that for the great price. Packaging was thorough, and shipped quick.
