I have now bought two of these devices I like them so much. This is an absolute bargain for the price. Extremely high quality crosspoint matrix, where you can share any of 8 stereo inputs to 8 stereo outputs. That can control 8 zones. Combine it with some power amps and you can make the equivalent of a 5000USD system for under 500USD and I bet the quality is better. The only thing it lacks is networking, but you can control the thing over RS232. Or you can reverse engineer the Infrared Remote to control it over the network. You can even open it up and connect directly to TTL-level UART and there is plenty of room inside the case to add a microcontroller and the internal cabling is well-labelled. It uses two MT8816 crosspoint ICs and a bunch of op-amps. With an STM32 to control it all with the screen. Seller was extremely helpful providing additional docs.
