good quality step drill for this money

I used it today for the first time, to drill a plastic sheet at 15mm. I tried several times, and always failed breaking the part. the problem is that the cutting edge is angled and pulls the part to the next step very strongly. I have other step drill bits, all with a straight edge (not angled) which work fine, too bad this one does not.
