My usecase is that I need to connect my playstation + xbox + switch to both my screen (same HDMI port) and a recorder, and to 2 optical (SPDIF, toslink) receivers (headset DAC + 5.1 sound system). Before ordering this device, I used a combination of: - an HDMI switch - an optical switch - an HDMI audio extractor (HDMI => HDMI + optical, to extract audio from the switch, that does not have optical output) - an optical splitter so it was quite a mess. Now, I only have this device, so I am really satisfied, it works great. It simplifies things, and I'm now ready for PS5 and XSX consoles (which do no longer have optical audio outputs).
