Exactly as described. The combination cannot be changed. Came with 4 digit combination, and the lock opens when those 4 (out of 8 total) buttons are pressed down, in any order. I think that makes for 1,680 possible combinations to guess, so it's quite secure against intruders, although probably not very strong against a hammer.
