Cigarette holder is spring loaded and flips to the side when you press the button to open the ashtray. The cover is not spring loaded but the cigarette holder pushes that completely open. Be carefull, this is a rather quick and almost violent action. Quality is so-so, not very high, but good enough for occasional use.
